Just 30 minutes direct from Zurich Airport, and 15 minutes direct from Zurich city centre, a complete events village, Trafo | Baden. Congress. Hotels. Catering. offers an extensive range of venues all within easy walking distance.
Alternative cities can offer a cost saving to event planners who require complex rooming and simplified DDR packages, and Trafo is no exception.
From a full setup conference hall for 600 pax plenary, with multiple fully equipped break out rooms, foyer for exhibitions and catering (all with natural daylight), to an edgy urban space from a disused 100 year old transformer factory converted as an unusual dry hire venue for 1,200 pax. The dry hire venue also happens to have built in state of the art AV, various props and furniture, making it easier, and less expensive, to work with than many dry hire venues. These facilities have two additional break-out areas. Known as Halle 37, this suite of halls is perfect for larger meetings, co located exhibitions or dinner and networking events after conference sessions, ensuring no one is stuck within the same four walls for 2, or more days.
There is direct access to the onsite 3* superior business hotel, offering single and double superior rooms, each with Nespresso machines, free wifi, and plenty of USB ports for the international business visitor.
Additional facilities for conference planners include 5 cinema screens, all onsite, that are great for detailed presentations, and of course each equipped with full cinematic play back.
Across the road there is an additional 4* boutique hotel, also managed by Trafo.
For residential meetings there are 100 bedrooms on site, with a further 300+ in Baden all within walking distance, and plenty to chose from in the wider Zurich region.
Attractive surroundings
Baden itself is a charming medieval town, very walkable, offering plenty of bars and restaurants for post conference R&R. The town of Baden takes its names from the German - Baths, for the hot springs, famed since at least the Roman era, and is situated near the river Limmat which flows from Lake Zurich.
Whilst it is perfect for walks and boat trips, local activities include the ever-popular local Gin production, microbreweries, and wineries, so there is plenty for event planners to offer outside the main conference programme, without having to leave the area.
Knowledge hubs
Baden’s green credentials, with electric taxi fleets, hydro power and research in alternative energies are thanks in part to its historic roots in electricity generation. In the 19th and 20th century Baden became an industrial town, main seat of the former Brown Boveri Company. Most industrial facilities have moved, but Baden is still the seat of many of the engineering services of ABB and several branches of GE's Power business. Nearby West Zurich offers the media heartland of Switzerland, and access to Zurich’s scientific and R&D hub.
